![]() *edit* The "Like Spinning Plates" section was also beautiful.Starting again is never easy, but it’s often essential. And it turns out it was released on my birthday, so happy late birthday to me I guess. And you just might end up liking Radiohead after playing it.īut again, thank you for mentioning it, greatly appreciated. Probably helps that I already liked Radiohead, but even if you don't, it's worth the experience. But there were times where I just thought "This is absolutely amazingly beautiful". However I could see how some people with epilepsy may have issues with some areas, so be warned, play it in a bright room, take breaks.īut it's not long, probably took me an hour and a half, but I'm pretty sure I missed some stuff, so I will do another play later. Make sure you play it with headphones on, as often times the music will direct you where to go, it's balanced extremely well, and probably play it in a dark room with minimal distractions. Yeah, it's not much of a "game", but as an art exhibit it hits hard. I've always loved that song, and the interpretation of it in the game is just fantastic. ![]() But it did feel like a trip, especially the "How to Disappear Completely" section. Which I haven't dabbled in for almost two decades. I can't imagine what it would be like if you were on mind altering substances. I finished my first run-through tonight, and it was absolutely amazing. But I haven't followed them much after that, in fact I don't think I've ever listened to In Rainbows all the way through, just never made the time for it, and I should probably do so.Īnyway, for anyone that's a fan of Radiohead, or anyone that loves an immersive, mind-fuck of a game experience, I would highly recommend it. I never listened to Amnesiac as much as I probably should've. My favorite album is probably OK Computer, but Kid A is also fantastic. When we still used tapes and I couldn't afford a CD player. I didn't listen to them constantly, but they were one of the bands where I almost always had a tape of theirs available in my car. ![]() ![]() In the early 2000's I loved Radiohead, not my favorite band, but I thought Kid A and OK Computer were great albums. I really want to thank you for bringing this to my attention, otherwise I probably would've missed it completely. Also, the opening area art style massively reminded me of amazing look GZDoom project He Came From Beyond. Quite spooky in some places too, even without the threat element. The frisson of watching giant paintings melt and fly apart - the paint literally goopily flying off the canvas - achieved I suspect by mapping each pixel of the image to a particle stream really tickled both the aesthetic and the nerdy side of me. Kid A and Amnesiac were pivotal albums for me, and I love them all the more as years go on so I'm very biased, but it made my hairs stand on end in a whole load of places. ![]() It's available free through the Epic store. I know Doomworld tends to skew heavier, but to any Radiohead fans that haven't heard of it (or people who like weird architecture, unsettling moments and cool computer graphics enough that they reckon they could stand listening to some Radiohead for a bit), I recommend it. Radiohead have put out a virtual exhibition (think arty walking simulator - it reminds me of Tale of Tales' The Path quite a bit). ![]()
